As you know, Joanne has been on a roller coaster ride ever since the 1996 Olympics, but it seems that she has gotten her life back on track. From being a superstar Salon Selectives commercial person--> all the way to just being an everyday kind of person... I have the scoop!!! Joanne Malar is a Canadian swimmer from Hamilton, Ontario. She is currently attending McMaster Univeristy where she is studying Kiniesiology. Joanne swims for her McMaster swim team and also for the Hamilton Wentworth Aquatic Club (HWAC) Her coach is Gaye Stratten as most of you may already know. Joanne was born on October 30th, 1975. She is a normal person...(some tend to forget that and think she is some sort of superwomen, excpecting too much from her and then being down on her when things just aren't clicking for her) some of her favorite pastimes, besides jumping in the pool for a grueling work out!!!! are windsurfing, camping, track, basketball, volleyball,tennis and t.v broadcasting.

At the 1996 Olympic Trials in Montreal,
Joanne qualified for 5 events alone for the Atlanta games, while the entire
canadian men only racked up 10 swims all together.
Joanne swam 5 out of 6 days at
the olympic trials, a total of 6 races. Qualifying for 5 olympic events!
